Fishing on Flying R Charters offers April Brown trout, Lake trout and Coho salmon fishing charters in and around thePort Washington, Wisconsin area in Lake Michigan. The Port Washington harbor area’s have the best Brown trout fishing on the Great Lakes during this time of year. Brown trout range from 16 inches to 16 pounds and there have been several 30 plus pound Browns landed over the last few years. Port Washington has produced record Brown Trout and there are many more trophies to be caught. Port Washington harbor produced a fish that weighed close to the world record more than once. Lake trout and Coho salmon are also caught during these trips as they come near shore to feed on spawning smelt and alwivies which are similar to the size and shape of smelt. The Lake trout range from 5 to 15 pounds, with some pushing over 20 pounds.
Port Washington Harbor has always had plenty of bait fish for Brown trout to eat and Brown trout live after spawning, so they live longer than salmon. This sets up a great fishery, with potential of catching trophy fish. Port Washington is the place to be when catching Browns in early spring. Flying R and Captain Roy have caught many record Browns and the boat is very warm so you will not get cold.
Flying R Charters has all the baits to catch these fish in spring and our boat is enclosed so you are protected from the cold and snow. By the end of April we are beginning to transition to got out farther in the lake to catch Coho, Salmon and some Lakers.
